A bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Italian Competition Authority Roberto Rustichelli took place on September 5. A delegation from L'Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato – AGCM visited Warsaw at the invitation of UOKiK President Tomasz Chróstny.
During the meeting, the institutions' scope of competences were presented, as well as the competition protection systems in both countries. Delegates also discussed current topics in the field of consumer protection of common interest to the authorities, including, among others, the promotion of synergies between competition and consumer protection and the latest developments in consumer protection policy.
Both AGCM and UOKiK experts shared their experiences on countering abuse of dominance in digital markets, and discussed merger control and market studies issues.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange information on the activities of the two institutions and to discuss key issues, thereby enhancing existing cooperation.
AGCM is Italy's independent competition authority, which works to ensure fair competition and protect consumer interests by monitoring the market and intervening in cases of unfair practices.
